MPFA U16s win midweek matches in the Tsemba Wummen League
Mees Palace Football Academy (MPFA) U16s continued its unbeaten streak in the Tsemba Wummen League with back-to-back wins on Tuesday and Thursday as we moved to 73 points to remain top of the standings.
Matchday 24 came with its peculiarities as the team locked horns with Adalchi U16s at the St. John’s college field. With rain falling intermittently, and the bumpy nature of the pitch, our boys were able to grind out the win. Ahmed Musa was first to hit the ball in a goal-line scramble in the 17th minute of play, poking home his 30th goal of the season.
Despite late efforts from the opponents, stand-in goalkeeper, Isaac Adeyinka was able to stand tall in between the sticks as we held on for the win.
Two days later, our boys were back in action on the same pitch as we squared up against Mabo Young Stars, a team owned by former Nigeria International women’s coach, Ismaila Mabo.
This time, our boys got off the mark quickly, as Musa continued his impeccable goal-scoring form, notching a hat-trick to take his goal tally to 33. His strike partner, Chris Yusuf got in on the act as he scored one while setting up another for Umar Bala to give us a comfortable 5-0 win.
