Mainz 05’s Michael Thurk inspires MPFA coaches
Long-time Mainz 05 professional Michael Thurk, who is the current scout of the Bundesliga club shared his experiences as a player, coach, and now scout in a very entertaining digital coaching clinic with coaches of Mees Palace Football Academy (MPFA) over a two-day period.
Moderated by the popular radio presenter Sammy Wejinya from Classic FM 91.1 radio in partnership with Schaechter Sports and Vandyke FC, Thurk answered various questions from our coaches.
As a player, Thurk is a big legend at Mainz 05 and scored numerous goals. In addition to his very succesful time at Mainz 05, he also played for Eintracht Frankfurt, Energie Cottbus, 1.FC Heidenheim and FC Augsburg. After his professional career, Thurk was the assistant coach of the professional team of 1. FSV Mainz 05 in the 2019/20 season and works currently very successfully as a scout.
“This was a really great session and I enjoyed sharing my experiences with the coaches from Jos. Especially in such challenging times, I believe that such clinics are a great opportunity to learn from each other“ said Thurk.

Mainz 05 will conduct numerous digital coaching clinics and live training sessions with kids from Jos in the coming months in cooperation with the Mees Palace Academy. The club continuing its many years of successful work in Nigeria.
